How Recommended Sleep Duration is Calculated

Recommended Sleep Duration - Instead of applying a fixed sleep target to everyone, we dynamically calculate "how long you should actually sleep today" based on your daily condition.

Why is "Recommended Sleep Duration" Needed?

Your sleep needs vary every day. Last night's sleep quality, today's training intensity, and your rest situation over the past few days all affect your body's recovery needs. The goal of "Recommended Sleep Duration" is to use scientific data to tell you - the optimal sleep duration for today, ensuring you neither overtax your body nor waste time.

How is it Calculated?

PeakWatch's "Recommended Sleep Duration" integrates the following 4 key factors to generate personalized sleep recommendations:

  • Basic Sleep Goal Your set daily sleep target (e.g., 7 hours 30 minutes) serves as the calculation baseline.

  • Recent Fatigue Level If recent training intensity has been high with significant training fatigue, the system will appropriately increase recommended sleep time to aid muscle and nervous system recovery.

  • Sleep Debt If you've had insufficient sleep in recent days, the system calculates the accumulated deficit and reasonably distributes compensatory sleep over the following days, rather than recommending excessive "catch-up" sleep at once.

  • Sleep Efficiency If you've spent enough time in bed but had low sleep efficiency (e.g., frequent awakenings), the system recommends appropriately extending rest time to ensure adequate effective sleep proportion.

Compared to the fixed recommendation of "8 hours per day," PeakWatch's "Recommended Sleep Duration" dynamically updates based on real-time data + training cycles, ensuring your sleep recommendation always matches your daily condition. Whether you're pursuing peak performance or focusing on health recovery, this feature will serve as your sleep coach throughout your training journey, helping you get just the right amount of sleep every day.

One-Tap Alarm Function

In addition to generating "Recommended Sleep Duration," PeakWatch supports one-tap sleep alarm setting: simply select your wake-up time, and the system automatically calculates the optimal bedtime based on your "Recommended Sleep Duration." This allows you to naturally wake up refreshed and energized while meeting your sleep needs.
